Flag Lifecycle

A flag indicates a notification on the part of an instructor regarding a student’s academic performance.

Advisor Icon

An instructor reviews the grade center in Blackboard, filters students based on performance, and selects student(s) to contact.

Next, the instructor communicates with students by raising flags or awarding kudos. The instructor may include a personal comment or suggestion to the student.

MySuccess

Student, advisor, and instructor receive notification from MySuccess of kudos awarded and flags raised. Notifications are tailored to fit individual user’s roles (advisor, instructor, or student) and personalized preferences. Individual users can set up their preferences to receive notifications by email or text.

Student responds to notification and the flag is cleared as a result of resolution with instructor or advisor.

Advisor Icon

Student takes no initial action toward meeting with an instructor or advisor regarding a flag.  The advisor follows up with the student.  The student responds to the advisor, resolution is achieved, and the advisor removes the flag.

Advisor Icon

Student takes no initial action toward meeting with an instructor or advisor regarding a flag.  The advisor follows up with the student.  The student does not respond.  MySuccess automatically clears flag(s) and kudo(s) at the end of the term.

Flag(s) are automatically cleared at the end of the semester.
