MySuccess is a communication tool that helps advisors identify students who experience academic difficulty that puts them at risk for not completing their education at KU by using routine information gathered in existing systems like attendance or grades. Advisors are able to track the interactions they have with a student to get a more holistic picture of the student’s academic performance. You may access MySuccess by logging in to Blackboard and select MySuccess from the Tools module on the left. Or, you may login to the myKU portal and select MySuccess from the Academics tab.
Advisors are able to utilize the information they gather about a student from MySuccess to make meaningful interventions at critical points during an academic term. The information provided by Mysuccess will help facilitate identification of students’ behavioral and performance patterns to predict future achievement and retention. Introducing students to academic resources, exploring options for improvement in the class and helping students navigate the larger university environment will potentially increase retention rates of students.
Ideal advisor involvement includes: utilization of MySuccess email digests to prompt intervention management, initiating interventions to students who have received flags and completion of the program survey at the end of each term.
